Knowledge Exam Details

• Electronic exam only (no paper exams)
• 40 multiple-choice questions
• 1 hour to complete
• Passing score: 80% or higher
• Students must bring their own device (cell phone, tablet, or laptop)
• Valid identification required (WA permit/ID, passport, or driver license)
• A valid Washington Driver License Number (WDL/DLN) is required prior to testing
• Students must have access to their DOL Licensing Express account on the day of the exam
• Exam starts promptly at the scheduled time; late arrivals will not be admitted

• 15 minutes early to allow time for check-in and account login
• Late arrivals, missed appointments, or incomplete documentation will result in forfeited exams and fees
• No refunds for missed or failed exams — no exceptions
• Phone lines will be turned off during exams to maintain a quiet testing environment
• Re-testing is permitted for an additional fee
