Marcella Fogg
Driving Instructor

My style is that in which I focus on positives of “what”, “where”, and “how” a student should approach driving. It is a visual sport and I focus on all safety stuff through what is controllable in the car at the time. I go over all aspects of each drive in the cariculum and I focus on problem solving while we learn so that after the 4 drives they know how to figure out what to do when “we” as instructors are not in the car.

I specialize in anxiety and ptsd management and have worked with many students adult and children who have experienced trauma and anxiety in their life that affect their driving abilities. Perhaps a car accident, a death, etc…anything that manifests to anxiety and fear. My approach is from the directives of how State Patrol instructed us in the academy. THey were awesome with keeping calm and also having fun while learning. Driving should be fun. The more fun one has the safer one is because they are relaxed, they don’t have hesitation, they don’t have withholding of confidence.

So that is my style. When I am in the car, I always give the prelude of me not being a anxious or manic person. They will not get animation or yelling or anything such as they experience mostly with their parents, LOL. Sometimes I say that depending on the student. Otherwise, it should be calm, it should be fun, and it will be okay. I assure them there is no problem we can not address and fix.

That is my style. I focus on getting the student adult or child to feel confident to drive without an instructor and trust what they have learned and been taught to solve problems. Safety is always number one, for them, for their passengers, and for everyone else on the road.
